Television Watching - Effective Control Measures

Do you watch too much Television? Are you concerned about the effect Television watching may be having on your family? Here are some suggestions that may help you keep your Television watching under control.

1FIND OUT HOW MUCH YOU WATCH

It is wise to analyze your Television watching habits to see if changes should be made. Keep a diary for a week or so, writing down how much time you spend on Television watching. You may also want to list the programs that you watched, what you learned, and how much you enjoyed these programs. The main thing, though, is to calculate how much time you spend on Television watching. You may be surprised at what you find. Just knowing how much your life is devoted to Television watching may move you to make charges.

2.REDUCE YOUR TELEVISION WATCHING TIME

Try to do without Television watching for one day a week, a whole week, or a month. Instead you may want to set limits on the time spend on Television viewing each day. If you cut Television watching by half hour each day, you will have an extra 15 hours every month. Use that time, in meaningful activities, such as; pursuing spiritual interest, reading a good book, or spending time with family and friends. Studies have shown that people who do little Television watching enjoy it more than people who watch a lot of it.

3.REDUCE CHILDRENS TELEVISION WATCHING TIME.

One way to reduce Television watching is to move the Television out of the bedroom. Children who have Television in their room spend nearly one and half hour on Television watching than children who do not. Further, when a Television is in a youngsters room, parents do not know what the child is viewing. Parents and couples will find out that they will have more time for each other if they move the television out of their bedroom too. Some, by choice, have decided not to have a television in the home at all.

4. REDUCE WHAT YOU WATCH

There are, of course, many good programs to see. Rather than surfing through the channels or watching whatever comes on, check the listings in advance to select, the programs you want to watch. Turn the television on when the program you have chosen begins and turn the television off when it is over. Or instead of watching a program when it is aired, you may wish to record it for later viewing. That will make it possible to watch at a more convenient time and to fast-forward through commercials.

5BE SELECTIVE

You will probably agree with me that many television characters are just like Lovers of themselves, Lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, unthankful, disobedient to parents, disloyal, having no natural affection, fierce, without self-control, puffed up with pride.

Being selective involves self-control. Have you ever watched the first few minutes of a drama or movie and, though you realized it was unacceptable, watched the entire film just to find out what would happen next? Many have however, if you have the will power to turn off the television so you can do something else, you will probably find that you dont really care about what happened.

Television Watching is an expos on the time an average person spends in front of the TV, addictive nature of too much Television watching, effects on the children etc. Family Matters provides interesting topics on family issues and parenting.

Virtual Office - Setting Up Yours

Basic Virtual Office Supplies

To set up a virtual business you'll need to establish a home base. Most virtual offices are home offices created from a spare room, a corner in the family room or some other location. Your home office may consist primarily of your laptop computer. There are certain items you will need to have to start a virtual business. These are described below.

Computer You have to own a computer to have a virtual office. Many prefer using a laptop because laptops are easily transported from one location to another. Yet another option is having a desktop in your home office and reserving a laptop for travel. You don't have to invest in an expensive laptop. A lightweight model will likely suffice for most home based virtual offices.

Docking Station This is a must have if you have a laptop. This will allow you to plug your laptop into a standard keyboard, monitor and printer when you are working from your home base.

Printer While you may get away without a printer when starting your virtual office, eventually you will probably find you need to print documents. The easiest way to do this is with a laser or inkjet printer. Print quality is often best using an inkjet printer, but laser printers are much faster. Keep this in mind when considering the volume of material you may need to print.

Internet Connection You need to be able to connect to the Net when operating a virtual office. Dial up will cause you headaches, so be sure you have a broadband connection of some sort.

Home Improvement Ideas That Won't Break the Piggy Bank

An attractive kitchen is one of the things a person notices and remembers about a home. Rather then spending large amounts of cash having cabinets and surfaces replaced, try picking up new doors and hardware, and maybe a can of wood stain or paint. Old cabinets can be freshened up with a brush and screwdriver in an afternoon for a lot less than a complete overhaul. The same tricks work for appliances which may feature removable plates. New plates can be ordered in different colors or materials. Some may even be reversible already, so if you want to remodel a white kitchen darker you only need to loosen a few screws.

Light fixtures can be changed by following the included directions. Old styles can be made modern in a half hour. Using eco-friendly fixtures can improve a room's attractiveness while adding cleaner light and lowering your electric bill. Doorknobs, handles, and other hardware throughout the house can be retouched for a better look.

Landscaping can be done with nothing more than a hand spade. Local gardeners and groups may meet and share plants. Some species that are commonly used spread, and a neighbor may want to get rid of some beautiful plants. Ask around and improve the outside of your home without having to sell off the furniture inside. If you already do some gardening, check on line for a seed exchange. The price of postage may be all it takes for you to trade vegetable seeds for a tree seedling or a small shrub.

Flooring is normally the realm of experts, but kits exist that are installed over existing floors. Several hundred dollars can be saved by doing the work yourself while getting rid of worn out floors.

If your carpet is looking used but you can't afford to lay new carpeting, rent a shampooer and purchase the cleaning agents for it. Using it in a high traffic room can put new life into it and put off replacement.

Adding a new toilet seat in the bathroom and a few new towels can give a newer look to you bathroom. Replace chipped tiles around your bathroom and clean the group to complete the look. A new sink may not be difficult for a DIY-er to handle either.

Hiring a professional to inspect your home and take care of small repairs can be a good thing as well. When small details like wiring and water fixtures are reseated and touched up it tells visitors that you care about your home. The price of a pro for a few hours may be more than enough to make up for the equipment and tools you would have to purchase yourself.

Watch your front door. A loose handle and cracking paint around it will be the first thing to greet visitors. Adding stronger fixtures, a new light kit, or paint to the frame can do wonders for the image of your home. Metal frames can be painted over as well, without requiring a new frame.

New curtains on your windows present a better image. Anyone driving by can see your windows so if the colors are off or they are getting tatty, just hanging a new set will make everyone feel better.

If you don't have enough space for a proper garden behind your home, consider flower boxes. Installing them underneath a window is easy and small flowers growing inside them makes a home warmer. If you enjoy cooking you can install one near the kitchen as a boxed herb garden.

What Is Your Bank Charging You? A Guide To Bank Charges

When you're shopping around for a bank account there are a lot of factors to consider. Many people go for up-front incentives, such as money paid into the bank account, vouchers or a gift. However, it is worth looking at bank accounts in more depth to find out what you might be paying for various transactions. Here are some of the transactions that banks might charge you for.

Authorised Overdraft

An overdraft is like a short term loan. The bank gives you permission to spend more than the funds you have in your account. This amount is usually fixed in consultation with the bank and may be reviewed at stated periods. Some banks have a free authorised overdraft up to a certain limit and charge for any balance over that limit. This is the best way to arrange an overdraft.

Unauthorised Overdraft

When customers spend more than they have in their accounts without arranging an overdraft limit, this is known as an unauthorised overdraft. Banks penalise customers heavily for this by charging an unauthorised overdraft fee of more than 35 in some cases. The excess spending will also be charged interest at a higher rate than normal.

Cheque Services

Some banks charge for clearing cheques more quickly than the standard period (this can range from three to seven days depending on the banks involved and the day of the week). There may also be fees for processing cheques in a foreign currency.

Taking Money Out

Sometimes customers need to set up direct debits, where companies take certain sums from a bank account each month. They may also wish to set up standing orders, where they arrange to pay a certain amount to another bank account or company each month. Some banks charge a setup fee for these services. . It is also worth looking at the daily withdrawal limit on a current account. This can vary widely depending on the bank you choose.

Other Bank Charges

Banks may also charge for other services such as:

1. setting up a loan facility
2. changing or issuing foreign currency
3. writing cheques that exceed the cleared balance in an account
4. stopping a lost cheque

Banks will also charge customers if they have to write to them about an infraction of bank rules, such as exceeding the overdraft limit or defaulting on loan repayments. This means that defaulting customers have to repay the debt as well as the additional charges.

Doing some research could save consumers a small fortune in bank charges. In addition for looking for incentives, consumers should look for banks that keep their charges as low as possible. With a bit of digging, it is easy to find banks with:

5. an automatic overdraft limit for which there is no charge
6. free standing orders and direct debits
7. free transfers between banks
8. low unauthorised overdraft fees
9. low charges for other bank transactions

Choosing a bank that fits this profile will help with overall financial health.

Rent Video Games Online

Everyone has probably heard of NetFlix, the company that puts a DVD rental store in your mailbox. But, a little newer, and growing quickly in popularity, is a collection of online video game rental companies. They work much the same way as NetFlix. You sign up online, setup a list of games you'd like to play, and wait for them to show up in your mailbox. When your done playing, drop it the mailbox, and wait for your next one to show up. Shipping both ways is paid for by the game rental company. Convenient and cheaper than buying and renting from your local video / games store.

The are a variety of plans to consider, when you choose to rent video games online. The main factor distinguishing the plans, is the number of games you are allowed to have checked out at one time. The more games checked out, the higher your monthly fees. Plans usually allow from one to six games out at a time. The severity of your gaming addiction will of course determine which plan you sign up for. I would personally stay away from the one game out at a time plan. Having a two or more plan, guarantees you will always have at least one rental game in your console, even if one is in transit.

The other thing I should mention, is that console games are the only games you can rent. Due to illegal copying issues, PC games have never really found their way into the rental business. But, most companies do carry games for just about any console you might have. Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS, PS2, PS3,PSP, Nintendo DS, GameBoy Advance, and even the Nintendo Game Cube. Some companies do offer videos as well, but it's best to browse their selection, and make sure they have the kind of titles you would be interested in.

Another safety net that most companies provide, is the free trial. That makes signing up a pretty easy decision. You could even sign up with more than one company at a time, and give them a real good comparison. It won't cost you anything, and only make you a more informed consumer.

Forex Chart Mistakes 6 Common Ones That Will See You Lose!

Forex charts are an excellent way to make money yet most traders have no idea on how to use them correctly and 90% of traders lose. Here we will outline 6 common mistakes traders make with forex technical analysis and if you make ANY of them you will lose to.

1. Using Science

Many novice traders make the mistake of thinking that forex prices move to scientific law - stand up the devotees of Gann, Elliot and Fibonacci - but of course they don't. If they did then we would all know the price in advance and there would be no market - period.

These traders are naive or lazy - what they need to understand is trading is a game of odds not certainties.

Leave the scientific theories to the far out investment crowd and dreamers and concentrate on the reality of making money - and that means trading the odds.

2. Trying to Predict

Even traders who don't use scientific forex trading strategies try and predict.

For example, they see prices dip toward support and buy - but this is hoping and guessing and they are going to get a lesson.

If you want to win you wait for the test of support and pfirs to move away from the level supported by momentum.

If you don't know what momentum oscillators are now is the time to learn and make them an essential part of your forex education - if you don't trade with price momentum, you are simply guaranteed to lose.

Look up our other articles for further details - you must trade with momentum indicators to get the odds in your favour.

3. Using invalid data

Day traders! All volatility is random in daily time frames and prices can and do go anywhere so you can't get the odds in your favour and you will lose.

More novice forex traders use forex day trading systems than any other method and it's the best way to lose money - Don't try it.

4. Using Indicators The Wrong Way

How many times have I seen people buy dips to a moving average? Loads of times and it's a guaranteed way to lose money - it's a lagging indicator!

Another great one is - traders using outer Bollinger bands to set stops - that's not what it should be used for, it's a gauge of volatility.

These are just two examples - but there are many more - always use indicators for what they are supposed to be used for.

5. Being To Complicated

Many traders think the more the better and try and use loads of indicators and complicated equations in their currency trading system.

Their wrong!

Simple systems using support, resistance and a few momentum indicators are all you need to succeed.

Why?

Because - simple systems are more robust and less likely to break in the brutal world of trading.

You don't get paid for being clever in forex trading; you get paid for being right - so keep it simple.

6. Being too Subjective

The more objective you're trading, the more likely you are to stay disciplined and keep your emotions out of trading.

Avoid using indicators that are subjective such as, cycles etc and stick with objective rules.

Finally...

Using forex charts is easy and quick and you can soon be enjoying currency trading success, so long as you use them the right way.

When you use forex charts you are a bit like a ships captain - you can use them to navigate correctly but if you don't, then just like the captain at sea who makes errors the market will drown you and your equity.
